COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
STEEL SHEETS, CORRUGATED: 2-1/2 INCH NOMINAL CORRUGATION,
PAINTED OR UNPAINTED

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial
item description for all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE. This commercial item description covers painted and unpainted corrugated
steel sheets for roofing (type I) and siding (type II).
2. CLASSIFICATION. The corrugated steel sheets shall be of the following types:
Type I Roofing sheet, edges turned opposite.
Type II Siding sheet, edges turned in same direction.
3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.
3.1 Design. Corrugations on the steel sheets shall be approximately parallel to each other
and to the longitudinal edge of the sheet. All corrugated sheets shall nest when placed on
top of one another and shall fit together when one sheet is overlapping the other.
3.2 Material. Material for the corrugated steel sheets shall conform to ASTM
A929/A929M and ASTM A1008/A1008M.
3.3. Corrugations. The corrugations of each sheet shall be the standard 2-1/2 inch
nominal size, approximately 2-2/3 inches from center to center and approximately ½ inch
deep.
